The Inuit Asian cousin connection

‘We’re your asian cousins from another mother,” said the Korean speaker at the Asian Insights Seminar at Ilisimatusarfik earlier this year.

Local folklore: Do you know Jerry?

American pop culture reached Greenland a long time ago. Every so often, I hear references to TV shows.

In Greenland, we speak our own language. It’s called scrunch your nose and wiggle your eyebrows!

For some reason the lakes reminded me of Tibet, just with lush trees. The stunning scenery is near the Caminito del Rey, formerly known as “one of the most dangerous walks in the world”. It’s been on our bucket list for a decade now and it will probably be a decade before we finally get around to it. This time the reason is that it is recommended that kids should be at least 8 years old...ah well, the drive around was also nice 😬
It’s my first time in Spain during the European winter, and I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last. Photos from Benal Madena, Mijas, Zahara de la Sierra and Sevilla.
House Hunters International reunion! This time checking out cameraman Gordon’s retirement home in Mijas. (Six years ago he came to film our story of moving to Greenland, back then without the little Pippa). Thanks for your hospitality!
Happy Straya Day. Spot the grub (food).
What a beautiful weekend. The sunny weather beckons for long walks in fresh air, and I cannot resist nature’s lure. But I am completely exhausted for the rest of the day. #nofilter
It’s lovely to relax in hot water, especially when you feel like a big heavy blob! We were unexpectedly able to make a trip to @lubkergolfresort spa in Jutland, while our cheeky girl spent quality time with her grannies. Thank you! We took a package which included lunch and sample products from @beautepacifique_official, and the fun touch was that the spa provided a guide to the facilities and suggestions for when one should use the different masks and creams.
Morning breakfast and sunrise at Følle. 😍 the days are getting lighter again sloooooowly...
Almost the Scottish highlands, or South Greenland 😜 Heather Hills is the last area in this part of Denmark left in its natural state. Much more rolling hills and undulating contours than the flat farmlands in the rest of the region. Also whimsical in fog!
Glædelig Jul / Merry Christmas ❤️
Afternoon in bed. #naptime #buuti #meditation
When something good comes out of something sad - first meetings and happy reunions. Photo 1: eating with her remaining great grandparents in the kitchen of the house where my dad grew up Photo 2: girl with her 8 month old uncle Photo 3: another auntie and uncle 😜 Photo 4: nice to be with grannies ah ma and ah gong again.
When we were finished with breakfast, I was asked what I wanted to eat for lunch. When lunchtime passed, dinner was the next big event. My belly and I could not keep up 😅 By default, maybe all Malaysians can be considered foodies? Here are some random food photos I took! Lovely to be back home.
High rise living. Level 25. I finally managed to take a photo out the window of my aunt’s condo.
She’s practising to be a masked robber. And accidentally promoting @air_greenland_official while she’s at it. 🤣 The other week, at the top of the world.
It was hilarious getting some of your guesses back as to what I was holding. A baguette left in the oven too long, narwhale horn, whale penis... @lishaharris guessed it 100% correctly - it’s a walrus penis bone and a very fine specimen at that! While in Qaanaaq, @alienarctic’s husband wanted to make a hunting knife out of bone, and apparently walrus penis is one of the best things to use for this because it is so hard. 😂 Happy weekend everyone!
Probably the closest we will ever get to a family portrait by the Greenland ice sheet. 😜The little trooper survived minus 28 degrees Celsius (but she indicated VERY strongly that she should get back into the bus)! #russellglacier #kangerlussuaq #visitgreenland #greenlandpioneer @albatrosarcticcircle
Brothers and cousins.
Friday afternoon sunset at the office. Happy weekend everybody :) #nordatlantiskhus #visitgreenland #greenland #faroeislands #iceland
And suddenly, unexpectedly, she’s ready for Greenland! See you in two weeks for the Towards More Tourism domestic conference in Nuuk. :) #visitgreenland
Can you see a few bodies swimming in the sea? The “Northern European” part of our PSA ended this journey with a dip in the water, while the “Southerners” and Americans stayed on land. 😜 First photo is the drone view by Matt Corlis. #atws2018 #tuscanyadventuretimes #latergram
